Unhealthy school lunch options have become quite the controversial subject in recent years. If your child will be bringing a packed lunch to school this year then you have come to the right place. We have found an assortment of lunch bag options with something for everyone. If you have a favorite lunch bag or box then share it with us here or on our Facebook page! And if you use any of the options we have listed we would love to hear from you as well.
Here are some great school lunch box/bag options for the new school year:
Mom’s Shopping Engine is head over heels for Dabbawalla Lunch Bags and Sacks! So exactly what does Dabbawalla mean you ask? A dabbawalla is a person in India who carries lunch boxes to office workers. Founded by sisters Susan and Karen the name came from Susan’s fascination with the lunch box delivery men she encountered when she traveled to India. The sisters put the fun back in functional when they designed their lunch bags and sacks for children of all ages (even the young at heart). And you can feel good about your purchase because all their bags have been designed in the USA and responsibly sewn in Taiwan by a woman-owned and operated facility that supports fair labor practices. And Dabbawalla is so excited about Mom’s Shopping Engine they are sharing a special 20% off discount code exclusively for our readers. Use the code MOMS11 through Labor Day 2011 and save 20% on your purchase.
You will see that all of their bags are adorable but here are a couple of our favorites:
If you are looking for an alternative to plastic this year for your child’s lunch then Lunchbots is the answer to your prayers! With stainless steel containers and stainless steel lids the only thing missing is the plastic. If you are wondering why this is a good thing then check out their recap here:
They have containers of every size and shape and even some with dividers to keep foods separate.
Made in the USA, the Goodbyn Original and Bynto Boxes are designed to eliminate the need for baggies and separate containers. You are able to easily pack everything neatly in one reusable container. Each kit comes with a bottle for the drink, the container and fun stickers so your child can decorate it as they like.
We love the Shinzi Katoh bento boxes on My Sweet Muffin. There is an assortment of adorable options available and we promise you will have a hard time choosing!
Go Green Lunchbox was created and founded by a mother of two who was appalled by the amount of waste she created when packing lunches for her two daughters. Each Go Green Lunchbox kit comes with a 5 compartment food container, a stainless steel bottle and an insulated fabric carrier.
Pottery Barn Lunch Boxes and Bags
The lunch options at Pottery Barn are endless! They has something for everyone. Here are a couple of our favorites:
And how cool is this? We found an Etsy shop that sells upcycled Pottery Barn lunch bags at a great price. She gets new bags that had monogram mistakes or were returned and cleverly covers the mistakes and makes them your own with a new patch or monogram. You have to see this to believe it (and she does this with other brands as well!)
